Westport
Westport on Lake Champlain is a small, vibrant year 'round community with an approximate population of 1500. In the summer the numbers increase, as does the pace.
Historically, travelers boating north from the Hudson River valley would disembark in Westport and begin their horse and buggy trip west towards the Adirondack High Peaks and the Great Camps.
Today Westport offers a marina, an 18- hole golf course, the Depot Theater - a summer equity theater, summer outdoor concerts at Ballard Park, the Westport Library on the green, and numerous recreational opportunities both on Lake Champlain and in the Adirondack High Peaks 30 minutes to the west. Camp Dudley, the oldest YMCA camp in the country is located in the town of Westport.
Boquet Valley Central Schools - Lakeview campus, K-8; 9-12 at the Mountain View campus in Elizabethtown - provide a quality education to to the children of the region.
Westport's depot is a stop for the New York City-Montreal Amtrak train as well as the home of the Depot Theatre. The theater hosts a winter play reading series complete with soup and bread in addition to their busy summer season.
